Slack and Listserve

I will be serving as a moderator of the listserve and Slack channels as we get up and running, but the hope is that this is a place for us to share information, collaborate on industry-level projects, and respond to challenges that affect all of us.  A couple ground rules:

First, everything on the listserve and Slack channels are off the record.  Sharing information without consent will be grounds to get kicked out.  Second, follow the golden rule of treating others as you would treat yourself.  That means offensive and harassing behavior will also get you kicked out.  Third, don't post confidential information on this site without approvals from the originator.  That includes case studies, campaign data, etc should only be posted if the originator approves.  These are some simple guidelines and hopefully we'll iterate as we get bigger and more organized.

Board Members

BDX is a 501c6 trade association and we have members who serve on the board, but we are always looking for more members!  If you are interested in serving on the board, please let me know off-thread.  The one requirement is that board members must be dues-paying members.

BDX Dues

Which is a reminder about dues, please pay your dues at BDX Dues.

Q: What do dues pay for?

A: Dues help us cover operational and program costs, including legal and compliance fees, website and design, programming including webinars and podcasts, and offline networking events.  As some of you are familiar, setting up and maintaining a non-profit is hard work!

Q: Do I have to pay dues?

A: You do not have to pay dues to participate in the Slack channel or listserve.  However, you do need to pay dues to participate in BDX programming and networking events.

There are three membership classes and accompanying dues from each:

* Digital consulting firms, which will be defined as consultants/firms that provide digital consulting services to Democratic and progressive groups.  A consulting firm membership means you can add all of your firm staffers to BDX.  Digital firms will pay a sliding scale depending on their size starting at $250 up to $1,000.

* Individuals, who are staffers performing digital services in-house at Democratic and progressive organizations.  Individuals at consulting firms can pay the single membership dues for themselves.  Individuals pay $50 for membership, exceptions can be made on a case by case basis.

* Vendors, which are vendors who sell advertising or provide services to the firms and organizations.  Vendors pay $1,000/year.

So please pay dues if you can here: BDX Dues and I'm happy to answer any questions that people have.

Please let me know if you have any questions or feedback, and would love more comms to go through the listserve, thanks!

Best,

Tim Lim
